SAGindie has returned from the land of cigarettes, croissants, and cinema – and the 2024 CANNES FILM FESTIVAL (held from May 14 – 25, in Cannes, France). A longtime sponsor of The American Pavilion, SAGindie’s Darrien Michele Gipson and Eliza Hajek were on the beach of Cannes, programming entertainment industry roundtables for the visiting film students. This year’s speakers included The Gotham Executive Director Jeff Sharp (pictured above with some of his mentees), Sundance Institute Director of Industry Relations Rosie Wong, Sundance Film Festival Senior Programmer Heidi Zwicker, Cinetic Media Executive Jason Ishikawa, Law & Order: SVU writer Melody Cooper, POV Executive Producer Opal H. Bennett, Village Roadshow Pictures Executive Vice President Tristen Tuckfield, and more!
SAGindie’s Executive Director Darrien Michele Gipson was also a speaker herself, participating in the panel discussions Breaking Through the Lens: Transcending Borders (alongside Diane Kruger), and Purpose-Driven Filmmaking: Empathy and the Movies (moderated by Chaz Ebert).
We also want to extend our congratulations to all of this year’s Cannes Film Festival Award-winners (including friend-of-SAGindie Sean Baker on his Palme d’Or for his film Anora)! See the full list of winners below.
