L.A. Leaves the IFP Fold

Scott Garner — Wednesday, May 4th, 2005

Find_color1_1 Proving that sometimes rumors actually are true, IFP/LA has renamed itself FIND, completing a much whispered about split from the five remaining IFP chapters (to read Dawn Hudson’s statement on the move, click here). Though unsurprising, this move is sure to make waves in the independent film world.

Being on their mailing list but not apparently in this rumor loop, I, too, have been curious what exactly this means to both us indie filmmakers in L.A. and the greater filmmaking world as a whole. Thoughts?

  2. Scott Says:

FIND is keeping their excellent staff (disclaimer: SAGIndie is a FIND and IFP sponsor, and we love ‘em both!), so I’m positive that they will continue to serve L.A.’s independent film community as well as they always have.

The interesting question this situation raises: will the IFP try to form another L.A. branch?
